Biltmore Park
FAQ

  • chevron_rightWhen is garbage picked up?
Trash collection for Biltmore Park is on Thursday.  Recycling is collected the same day as trash collection except it is collected bi-weekly.  Service will be delayed if the collection week includes a national holiday, pushing our trash collection to Friday.  Information regarding the collection and disposal of bulk items is also available on the Asheville website: https://www.ashevillenc.gov/service/find-your-trash-or-recycling-schedule/

Please do not keep your trash cans outside, as this attracts bears.  Please do not put your trash out earlier than Thursday, as you may get a surprise trash inspection from a bear.
  • chevron_rightWhen is brush picked up?
Brush and bagged leaves are picked up every other week, usually on Wednesday.  Brush is picked up the weeks that recycling is NOT picked up.   Brush collection can happen as early as Monday, but usually happens on Wednesday.  For the collection schedule, visit the City of Asheville webiste:  https://www.ashevillenc.gov/service/find-your-trash-or-recycling-schedule/

Loose leaves are NOT picked up by the city of Asheville.   Leaves must be in bags.  Brush should be cut into 4-foot sections.  Logs and Branches must be smaller than 4 inches in diameter.   Christmas trees can be left at the curb for pickup during brush week.
  • chevron_rightWhere should I go hiking?
The North Carolina Arboretum is just 10 minutes away.  Its formal gardens and surrounding Bent Creek Forest are excellent for hiking, trail running, and mountain biking.

Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway south to hike Mount Pisgah, Skinny Dip Falls, Graveyard Fields, Black Balsam ridge, or Devil's Courthouse.  Drive north on the Parkway to hike Rattlesnake Lodge, Craggy Gardens, Craggy Pinnacle, or Mount Mitchell.

Dupont State Forest hosts the spectacular (and crowded) Triple Falls trail, as well as many others.  Dupont trails are also available for mountain biking and horse riding.

Visit Great Smokey Mountain National Park for 500,000 acres of hiking opportunities.  The nearest points to us would be in Cherokee, Cataloochie Valley, or Big Creek.

Keep your dog on a leash.
  • chevron_rightWhere is the best place to see fireworks?
Fireworks are launched from Lake Julian starting after 9pm on July 4th.   They are visible from Valley Springs School, Long Shoals Road, Leucothoe Lane, and the park at Vibernum and White Ash.    The closest you can get is to enter Lake Julian Park, but expect big crowds.  You can also sit along the access road to the power plant, which is near Ingles Market.
